SNOOKER HALL(RECEPTION ROOM) - ground floor
33ft x 55ft x 12ft high
The biggest room of all.In the north east corner is a staircase made of 6mm steel round bar, welded together in a highly complex and beautiful structure. The treads are made of wellingtonia wood. This leads up to the kitchen room. The room has seven cast iron pillars with Corinthian capitals supporting the first floor. These are directly below the original gallery balcony. The addition of the new floor effectively means this balcony has become the cornicing for the central area of this room. The outer area of the room is spatially cloister-like.The floor is made of 2ft squared slate tiles. with underfloor heating throughout. The pew panelling is 3ft high. In the north west corner is a built in cupboard with a built in chapel safe. There are 8 windows ,all of which have 9 panes. Curtains and rails match the kitchen room above. The lights around the cloister area are steel ivy and lights around the central area are original victorian white glass. There is a very rare and valuable Victorian stained glass panel in the wall between the front porch and this room. In the centre of the west wall is the largest feature of the whole chapel; a 20ft x 14ft organ casing., made of walnut. Below this are two symmetrical staircases of 8 steps leading to a pulpit made in a highly crafted walnut wood. Below all this is a wooden stage of 15ft x 10ft ,raised 8 inches above the slate floor.
